It all started at 1630hrs when a member of the BBC production team contacts our office to ask if we could help them. They have a Motorhome (7.09 x 2.18 x 2.81m) that has some issues and therefore isn’t road legal, which needs to be transported from Edinburgh to Hayes in Middlesex… the following day!
They didn’t think it would be possible given the timescale, they were actually enquiring about us moving the Motorhome around parts of the UK for filming on future dates. However when I confirmed we would be able to load the Motorhome in less than 24hrs after they had called, they were more than happy to carry on.
Although calls went on until 1930hrs that evening, it all had to be confirmed at a production meeting at 10am the following day (they day they wanted the vehicle collecting). Finally we got the go ahead at 1030hrs and the trailer was being loaded by 1400hrs that same day.
There was not enough room in the car park that the motorhome was parked in so the driver had to park his trailer on the road and cone off part of the public road in order to make sure that everything was loaded safely.
After some difficulties with starting (the driver managed to sort out the process as they are very skilled and experienced with all kinds of wheeled and tracked machines) It was loaded and away by 1600hrs.
Delivery was confirmed by 1200hrs the following day with part of the hotel car park again being cordoned off to make space for the large trailer and motor home.
The Children and Parents of the CBBC television show ‘Marrying Mum and Dad’ could carry on without delay or even knowledge that their day almost didn’t happen thanks to the flexibility and availability of Low Loaders Europe.
