Out of Gauge or OOG refers to any cargo that cannot be loaded into a standard curtain sider (Euroliner) or any cargo that cannot be loaded legally to fit within a country’s wide load restrictions or abnormal load limits.
Heavy haulage low loader trailers have a very low main bed, 32-60cm from the ground and are approx 5 to 7.5 metres long (although that can extend in some instances). The front section or neck can be removed or laid flat to the ground so cargo with very low ground clearance can be driven on if required; Ideal for the transport of all forms of wheeled, tracked and static heavy machinery haulage.
They are specialist trailers for specialist cargo and generally any out of gauge cargo being transported by low loader trailer in Europe will require abnormal load permits and will be subject to wide load / abnormal load restrictions in the UK and Europe.
Wide load permits and wide load restrictions vary in each country of Europe and the rules for abnormal indivisible loads in the UK are not the same as the rules for countries such as France Belgium, Spain, Italy and Germany and again the rules for out of gauge transport within these countries are all different from each other.
Low Loaders Europe have access to a varied specification of low loader trailers that can be supplied in all aspects of the transport of abnormal loads and out of gauge machinery haulage around the UK and to and from mainland Europe and beyond. Call our office today on 01536 271543 for more details
We also have a wide variety of abnormal load permits for wide loads, for loads with abnormal height and abnormal weight and over length cargo in stock for certain countries and certain routes; These are subject to the limits and restrictions of each individual country.
We can obtain out of gauge permits for any heavy machinery haulage that our clients require, as long as we are given the requisite time for the permit applications to be made to the correct authorities.
Low Loaders are commonly requested by clients for abnormal loads, but usually they are not actually required. Most commonly the trailer that is required is a semi low loader.
