ONE CALL DOES IT ALL
A Semi Low Loader is a heavy duty plant type trailer that can take a greater concentration of weight than other trailers and also cargo of a greater height than a standard flat or curtain sider.
Trailers are approx 13.60m long and 2.50m wide – Some have outriggers that can increase the width of the load bed to 3.00m

A semi low loader is an uncovered trailer that can carry a wide variety of abnormal load transports. Sometimes it is referred to as a step frame trailer, although a step frame tends to have a curtain side limiting its use in wide load transports.
The semi low loader has a longer low bed (approx 9.00m) and is slightly higher than a low loader trailer and as such is both a little more limited and a little more flexible in the kind of abnormal cargo and machinery that can be transported.
A semi low loader trailer ranges from 72cm to 90cm in height and is generally equipped with ramps that can be fixed or removable in order for mobile machinery to be driven on and off under its own power.
Semi low loader trailers can also be extended for over length transports that happen to be too high or too wide for a standard curtain sider trailer or too high for a flat trailer, or for cargo that cannot be lifted and needs to be driven on or off.
Low Loaders Europe operate a wide variety of semi low loaders for both in gauge and out of gauge machinery transports in the UK and to and from mainland European countries, especially, Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Spain.
We have a large stock of trailers with all forms of abnormal load permits to most mainland countries. As the wide load restrictions and abnormal load rules differ for UK and international haulage, we need to be equipped with all possible options to make sure we can move as fast as possible with our client’s requests.
Sometimes abnormal loads need to be moved quickly and we need to be ready for every legal eventuality – As we like to say that miracles we can do, but the impossible takes a little longer!
In the cases where the abnormal height or abnormal weight of the cargo extends beyond the permits we have in place then we are able to gain and supply the correct permit for any specific heavy haulage project that may be required. This is subject to legalities and time as dealing with such large loads and making sure that there isn’t a bridge on the route that we may not be able to get under for example does take some lead time.
Most out of gauge / abnormal permits can be gained within 2 weeks, although some can take up to 6 weeks depending on the country and the size of the fully laden semi low or low loader trailer dimensions. Call our office today on 01536 271543 to see what we can do for you.
